The Truth... What is it?

A Rembert Family of South Carolina

The Remberts were Huguenots from France, and their immigrant to Charleston, S. C. was Andre' Rambert. He probably arrived shortly after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. The family, in South Carolina is known to have continued to use that spelling for over a 100 years...probably as long as they continued to speak French. They settled in the near-coastal area of the lower Santee River known then as Jamestown. Some came further inland, by 1750, to an area of Sumter County known as Rembert, located between Sumter and Camden, S. C. Our European cousins of French ancestry still spell the name "Rambert".
