Dr. Suzanne "Suzy"
Dr. Schwab is the Iranian-born daughter of a
Muslim father and an American Jewish mother. When she was younger, he mother began a
conversion to Christianity (she thought "they" we corrupting her mother!). In 1998 she agreed
to fill a position in a Columbia practice after the death of Dr. Greg Jowers. Signs of
his devout Christianity were everywhere in his office. Schwab didn't feel right
removing Dr. Jowers' stuff. After a while the situation seemed to be sending her a
message. Schwab listened and became a Christian at age 34.
She came to realize that her new goal in
life was to help neighbors who were less fortunate. Schwab has established a mobile
free medical clinic (Med Mission) that
serves the needy in areas around Lexington County. This medical family practice is one part
of a 501 3C charitable entity called Mission of Hope Ministries. Med Mission has
a clinic office at 1819 Middleton St. behind the flagship location of Maurice Bessinger's
Piggy Park BBQ (BBQ is located on south side of merger of #321 & #302 to form Knox Abbott
Drive, Cayce, S. C.). It also has a mobile office which serves Batesburg from First Baptist Church and
Pelion at Pelion United Methodist Church.
